British Cheese Awards
All these beauties bagged Gold at the British Cheese Awards last year, and probably will this year too!
115g Evenlode Partnership No.1 Little Wallop The first cheese from the Evenlode Partnership; Blur bassist Alex James and First Lady of Cheese, Juliet Harbutt. Washed in Temperley Somerset Cider Vinegar and wrapped in vine leaves, Little Wallop develops a medley of moulds and complex flavours; a but nutty when young (aren't we all?), becoming silky subtle and brandy scented with age. A top cheese from the lady who know. Approx 7cm wide x 3cm high 200g Rachel Goats Cheese From White Lake Cheese Cheese Company in Somerset. This semi-soft Goats cheese has a washed rind. The taste is mellow, with a lingering goats milk flavour. Won Best Semi-Soft Cheese at the British Cheese Awards. 170g St Eadburgha Organic Multi-award winning pasteurised soft white Cotswold Brie from Gorsehill Abbey, near beautiful Broadway - with a taste that reflects the pastures where the Cows graze; subtle hints of herbs with floral notes in places. Each batch brings new delights with this carefully handmade single-estate Cotswold cheese. Approx 10cm wide x 4.5 cm high 150g Barkham Blue From Two Hoots Dairy in the village of Bartkham, near Wokingham, Berkshire. Barkham Blue has a very distinctive appearance. The deep yellow moist interior is spread with dark blue-green veins. It has a rich blue taste, smooth buttery texture with a melt in the mouth flavour; without the harshness associated with some blues. Pasteurised and vegetarian. Approx 10cm wide x 6cm high 200g Cornish Yarg From Lynher Dairies in Cornwall. Very unique, Cornish Yarg; it's a flavour-added cheese with a firm crumbly texture and mild, faintly lemony taste. Wrapped in nettles for an attractive finish and distinctive taste. Pasteurised and vegetarian. Approx 13cm long x 6cm wide. 200g Lincolnshire Poacher Based on a traditional west country cheddar and matured for 18-24 months, the taste varies with the seasons, but usually has a distinctive fruity, nutty taste with a clean, sweet finish. Unpasteurised. Approx 13cm long x 6cm wide 295g Great British Ploughman's Pickle We've included this jar of cracking British pickle, ideally suited for the Lincolnshire Poacher, but I think it sits quite well in this company and underlines the very British feel to this collection! Approx 10cm high x 7cm wide |
